Russia’s Trade with Egypt

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Egypt was $1,778,221,782, down 42.29% ($1,302,887,993) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $1,704,173,050, down 43.32% ($1,302,360,253) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $74,048,732, down 0.71% ($527,740) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $1,630,124,318, a 44.40% decrease ($1,301,832,513) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Egypt was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 18th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9886% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.6491% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 17th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 12th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.5237% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.4150% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 68th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 63rd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1089% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1196% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 28.65% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (20.10% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.14% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (5.94% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.62% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (5.59% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.45% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (6.12% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $18,874,612;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $7,784,220.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
