Russia’s Trade with France

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with France totaled $4,686,103,536, up 4.09% ($183,986,341) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to France in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $1,833,916,132, down 21.74% ($509,550,793) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from France in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $2,852,187,404, up 32.13% ($693,537,134) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with France went from a surplus of $184,816,655 in the 4th quarter of 2018, to a deficit of $1,018,271,272 in the 4th quarter of 2019.

France was Russia’s 13th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 12th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 2.6053% of Russia’s total trade (up from 2.4097% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

France was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.6398% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.8824% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

France was Russia’s 6th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 7th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.1927% of Russia’s total imports (up from 3.4625% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to France

The major share of Russian exports to France in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.41% of Russia’s total exports to France (89.76% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.04% of Russia’s total exports to France (2.16% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.54% of Russia’s total exports to France (2.36% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.44% of Russia’s total exports to France (1.91% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
