Russia’s Trade with Iceland

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Iceland totaled $45,262,230, up 179.70% ($29,079,890) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $25,303,090, up 310.16% ($19,133,975) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $19,959,140, up 99.33% ($9,945,915) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Iceland went from a deficit of $3,844,110 in the 4th quarter of 2018, to a surplus of $5,343,950 in the 4th quarter of 2019.

Iceland was Russia’s 105th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 132nd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0252% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0087% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Iceland was Russia’s 98th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 137th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0226% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0050% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Iceland was Russia’s 90th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 99th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0293% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0161% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Iceland

The major share of Russian exports to Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.37% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (29.26% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.54% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (11.94% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.17% of Russia’s total imports from Iceland (8.89% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
