Russia’s Trade with Latvia

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Latvia totaled $1,441,520,075, up 22.90% ($268,613,645) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Latvia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $1,308,077,550, up 25.64% ($266,923,921) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Latvia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $133,442,525, up 1.28% ($1,689,724) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Latvia in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $1,174,635,025, a 29.17% increase ($265,234,197) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Latvia was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 34th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.8014% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6278% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Latvia was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 28th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.1696% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8363% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Latvia was Russia’s 57th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 55th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1962% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2113% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Latvia

The major share of Russian exports to Latvia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.63% of Russia’s total exports to Latvia (59.85% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.48% of Russia’s total exports to Latvia (17.74% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
