Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Macedonia totaled $36,123,396, up 31.84% ($8,723,590) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $10,465,693, up 8.06% ($780,659) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $25,657,703, up 44.84% ($7,942,931) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $15,192,010, a 89.20% increase ($7,162,272) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Macedonia was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 121st in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0201% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0147% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 116th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 126th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0094% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0078% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 88th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 92nd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0377% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0284% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 86.98% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (3.60% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.54% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (9.75% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.21% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.08% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.19% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.28% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $81,284;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $38,000;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $33,852.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $7,477,358;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $345,796;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $293,321;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $204,192;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $55,937;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $34,545.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 48.99% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (61.11% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.59% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (19.30% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.32% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (3.86% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 8.01% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (13.51% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
