Russia’s Trade with Mongolia
In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mongolia was $533,371,203, down 4.49% ($25,087,584) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $524,567,916, down 3.91% ($21,365,741) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s imports from Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $8,803,287, down 29.72% ($3,721,843) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $515,764,629, a 3.31% decrease ($17,643,898) over the 4th quarter of 2018.
Mongolia was Russia’s 52nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 48th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2965% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2989% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Mongolia was Russia’s 45th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 39th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4690% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4385% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Mongolia was Russia’s 99th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 96th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0129% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0201% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Russia’s Exports to Mongolia
The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 65.78% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (71.53% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.38% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (8.24% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.92% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (10.03% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.74% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (5.26% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $6,005,345.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $45,089,689;

- Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 20.39% of Russia’s total imports from Mongolia (14.28% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.90% of Russia’s total imports from Mongolia (24.36% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
