Russia’s Trade with Morocco

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Morocco was $328,695,381, down 22.17% ($93,655,819) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $207,050,064, down 16.49% ($40,894,260) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $121,645,317, down 30.25% ($52,761,559) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $85,404,747, a 16.14% increase ($11,867,299) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Morocco was Russia’s 64th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 59th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1827% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2261% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Morocco was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 57th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1851% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1992% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Morocco was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 48th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1788% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2797% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 68.04% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (56.39% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 26.85% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (24.78% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.95% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (16.24% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.07% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (1.13% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $42,893,210;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,916,272;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $2,990,700;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $727,543.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $41,837,467;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $36,992,102;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $10,122,112;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,208,512;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $902,765;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $894,335;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $825,532;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $753,091.

Russia’s Imports from Morocco

The major share of Russian imports from Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 67.35% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (77.95% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 21.55% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (13.72% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.62% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (2.78% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $15,161,609;
