Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mozambique was $29,549,502, down 27.62% ($11,275,463) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $23,320,463, down 32.30% ($11,127,970) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $6,229,039, down 2.31% ($147,493) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $17,091,424, a 39.12% decrease ($10,980,477) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Mozambique was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 110th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0164% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0219% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 100th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 96th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0209% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0277% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 104th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0092% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0102% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 70.49% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (70.89% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.92% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (20.55% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.28% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (8.21% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $612,755;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $169,860.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $8,315,540;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,827,839;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,461,156;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - a decrease of $279,451.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.07% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (96.87% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.93% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (2.91% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $143,947.
