Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Pakistan was $104,226,296, down 3.22% ($3,467,299) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $41,670,762, down 20.76% ($10,915,342) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $62,555,534, up 13.52% ($7,448,043) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $20,884,772, a 728.30% increase ($18,363,385) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Pakistan was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 87th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0579% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0576% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Pakistan was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 90th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0373% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0422% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Pakistan was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 73rd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0920% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0884% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 68.75% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (31.60% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.97% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (18.76% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.37% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (23.03% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.77% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (0.84% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.91% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (21.11% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.06% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (4.37% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $12,853,602;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $693,305;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $333,969;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $318,228.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $7,820,706;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $7,054,163;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $2,468,652;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $2,063,945;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,463,255;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $838,532;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $822,902;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $813,506;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $706,910;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $319,461;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $223,816;
