Russia’s Trade with Saudi Arabia
In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Saudi Arabia totaled $481,053,446, up 69.76% ($197,680,745) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $405,628,983, up 93.25% ($195,726,653) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s imports from Saudi Arabia in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $75,424,463, up 2.66% ($1,954,092) from the 4th quarter of 2018.
Russia’s trade surplus with Saudi Arabia in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $330,204,520, a 142.03% increase ($193,772,561) over the 4th quarter of 2018.
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 55th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 67th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2674% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1517% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 46th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 65th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3627% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1686% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 64th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1109% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1178% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
Russia’s Exports to Saudi Arabia
The major share of Russian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.76% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (1.24% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 16.72% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (57.42% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.05% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (22.61% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.78% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (5.10% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.43% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (5.81% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.89% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (6.67% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $20,299,187;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $17,664,054;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $8,174,149;
- Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $2,299,080;
- Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $1,800,460;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,428,279.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
