Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with the Philippines was $382,049,700, down 16.94% ($77,900,887) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $249,426,178, down 26.23% ($88,685,279) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $132,623,522, up 8.85% ($10,784,392) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $116,802,656, a 45.99% decrease ($99,469,671) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

The Philippines was Russia’s 62nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 54th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2124% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2462% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The Philippines was Russia’s 57th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2230% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2716% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The Philippines was Russia’s 58th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 57th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1950% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1954% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 45.58% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (31.10% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 43.43% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (25.68% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.16% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (38.29% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.73% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (3.09% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.01% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.33% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.50% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $21,510,945;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,362,286;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $2,701,780;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,244,850.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $116,021,722;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $3,529,090;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,057,212;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $986,556;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $882,552.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.58% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (8.32% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.37% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.51% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
