In 2019, Russia’s trade with Cuba was $202,083,833, down 47.91% ($185,850,201) from 2018.

Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2019 were $186,735,127, down 49.90% ($185,970,686) from 2018.

Russia’s imports from Cuba in 2019 totaled $15,348,706, up 0.79% ($120,485) from 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cuba in 2019 was $171,386,421, a 52.06% decrease ($186,091,171) over 2018.

Cuba was Russia’s 102nd largest trading partner in 2019 (down from 89th in 2018), accounting for 0.0303% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0564% in 2018).

Cuba was Russia’s 87th largest export market in 2019 (down from 80th in 2018), accounting for 0.0442% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0828% in 2018).

Cuba was Russia’s 115th largest supplier in 2019 (down from 113th in 2018), accounting for 0.0063% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0064% in 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Cuba

The major share of Russian exports to Cuba in 2019 (and in 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 54.17% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (54.71% in 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 25.72% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (15.52% in 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.84% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (8.69% in 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.68% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (1.45% in 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.34% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (1.66% in 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2019 over 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $55,131,083;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $39,966,542;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $35,185,950;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $20,543,081;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $9,916,519;
