Russia’s Trade with Iran

In 2019, Russia’s trade with Iran was $1,588,897,811, down 8.73% ($152,052,064) from 2018.

Russia’s exports to Iran in 2019 were $1,197,540,971, down 0.85% ($10,270,519) from 2018.

Russia’s imports from Iran in 2019 were $391,356,840, down 26.59% ($141,781,545) from 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iran in 2019 was $806,184,131, a 19.49% increase ($131,511,026) over 2018.

Iran was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in 2019 (down from 50th in 2018), accounting for 0.2384% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2530% in 2018).

Iran was Russia’s 51st largest export market in 2019 (down from 48th in 2018), accounting for 0.2833% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2684% in 2018).

Iran was Russia’s 61st largest supplier in 2019 (down from 54th in 2018), accounting for 0.1605% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2239% in 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Iran

The major share of Russian exports to Iran in 2019 (and in 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 80.37% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (65.64% in 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.62% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (9.90% in 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.46% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (13.77% in 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.83% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (2.66% in 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.73% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (6.59% in 2018).

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $3,809,588.
