Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $408,351,412, up 6.31% ($24,243,739) from the 1st quarter of 2019.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $131,358,115, up 10.52% ($12,500,186) from the 1st quarter of 2019.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $276,993,297, up 4.43% ($11,743,553) from the 1st quarter of 2019.
Russia’s trade deficit with Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $145,635,182, a 0.52% decrease ($756,633) over the 1st quarter of 2019.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 56th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2873% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2440% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 68th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1476% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1139% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 34th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5211% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.5001% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 44.75% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (80.51% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 23.85% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (10.53% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 22.02% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (1.96% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.52% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (3.85% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.14% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.72% in the 1st quarter of 2019);

- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $802,892;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $34,627,854;
- Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $1,506,967;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $760,501;
- Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $684,646;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $653,881;
- Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $649,515;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $509,017.
