Russia’s Trade with Belarus

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Belarus was $6,141,347,963, down 17.62% ($1,313,647,609) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Belarus in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $3,337,274,237, down 29.52% ($1,397,457,600) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Belarus in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $2,804,073,726, up 3.08% ($83,809,991) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Belarus in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $533,200,511, a 73.53% decrease ($1,481,267,591) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Belarus was Russia’s 5th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 4th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 4.3207% of Russia’s total trade (down from 4.7356% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Belarus was Russia’s 7th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 5th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 3.7505% of Russia’s total exports (down from 4.5359% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Belarus was Russia’s 4th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 5.2750% of Russia’s total imports (up from 5.1284% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Belarus

The major share of Russian exports to Belarus in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 34.43% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (53.13% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.88% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (13.83% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
