Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina was $21,448,590, down 43.04% ($16,203,804) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $3,654,170, down 82.78% ($17,572,357) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $17,794,420, up 8.33% ($1,368,553) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Bosnia and Herzegovina went from a surplus of $4,800,660 in the 1st quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $14,140,250 in the 1st quarter of 2020.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 114th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 104th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0151% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0239% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 133rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 101st in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0041% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0203% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 88th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 89th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0335% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0310% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 45.97% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (9.38% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 30.00% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (5.64% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.68% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1.70% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.37% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1.11% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.01% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (5.15% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.54% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (74.61% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $186,916;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $29,665;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $21,175;
  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - an increase of $20,628;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - an increase of $12,537.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $15,818,520;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $940,546;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $271,814;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $159,176;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $138,464;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $108,692;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $105,797;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $53,448;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $49,755;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $20,973;
  • Cotton (HS code 52) - a decrease of $12,024;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $11,979;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $11,940.
