Russia’s Trade with Bulgaria

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Bulgaria was $837,413,405, down 7.45% ($67,411,486) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Bulgaria in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $723,297,245, down 7.60% ($59,458,776) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Bulgaria in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $114,116,160, down 6.51% ($7,952,710) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Bulgaria in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $609,181,085, a 7.80% decrease ($51,506,066) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Bulgaria was Russia’s 34th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 35th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5891% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5748% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 27th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 31st in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8129% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.7499% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 57th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 55th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2147% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2301% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Bulgaria

The major share of Russian exports to Bulgaria in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 64.17% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (80.21% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.73% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (7.06% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.56% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (8.32% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
