Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $13,086,203, up 1.75% ($225,620) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $7,873,094, down 11.28% ($1,001,206) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $5,213,109, up 30.78% ($1,226,826) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $2,659,985, a 45.58% decrease ($2,228,032) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Guatemala was Russia’s 126th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 129th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0092% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0082% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 120th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0088% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0085% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 103rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 109th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0098% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0075% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 16.16% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (15.63% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.47% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (81.93% in the 1st quarter of 2019);

  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $106,613;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $67,824;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $54,730;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $47,644;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $34,874;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $32,067;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $29,200.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,322,998;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $66,346;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $57,630;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $56,802.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 96.06% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (99.22% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.85% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (0.74% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
