Russia’s Trade with New Zealand

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with New Zealand totaled $239,958,765, up 66.38% ($95,734,946) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $155,099,967, up 83.39% ($70,527,127) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $84,858,798, up 42.26% ($25,207,819) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $70,241,169, a 181.85% increase ($45,319,308) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

New Zealand was Russia’s 67th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 78th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1688% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0916% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

New Zealand was Russia’s 64th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1743% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0810% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

New Zealand was Russia’s 62nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1596% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1125% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Imports from New Zealand

The major share of Russian imports from New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 92.08% of Russia’s total imports from New Zealand (89.23% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.54% of Russia’s total imports from New Zealand (2.56% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.66% of Russia’s total imports from New Zealand (4.68% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
