Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Pakistan was $186,356,455, down 2.69% ($5,147,129) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $59,658,620, up 1.89% ($1,108,521) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $126,697,835, down 4.71% ($6,255,650) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $67,039,215, a 9.90% decrease ($7,364,171) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1311% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1216% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Pakistan was Russia’s 79th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 82nd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0670% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0561% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Pakistan was Russia’s 53rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 52nd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2383% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2507% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 40.52% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (10.12% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 35.44% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (27.45% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.55% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (20.40% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.47% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (12.39% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.39% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (28.66% in the 1st quarter of 2019);

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $4,528,970;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $5,387,173;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,677,473;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $1,527,883;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $1,180,043;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $543,278;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $305,150.

Russia’s Imports from Pakistan

The major share of Russian imports from Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 36.17% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (35.61% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.80% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (2.31% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
