Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with South Korea was $4,955,564,370, down 20.43% ($1,272,539,286) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $3,404,600,880, down 20.59% ($882,827,862) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $1,550,963,490, down 20.08% ($389,711,424) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $1,853,637,390, a 21.01% decrease ($493,116,438) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

South Korea was Russia’s 8th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 5th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 3.4864% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.9562% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

South Korea was Russia’s 5th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 6th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 3.8262% of Russia’s total exports (down from 4.1074% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

South Korea was Russia’s 8th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 7th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 2.9176% of Russia’s total imports (down from 3.6587% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.55% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (86.58% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.34% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (7.05% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.37% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (3.35% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
