Russia’s Trade with the Dominican Republic

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with the Dominican Republic totaled $18,855,412, up 87.14% ($8,779,578) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $10,524,801, up 93.17% ($5,076,389) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $8,330,611, up 80.03% ($3,703,189) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $2,194,190, a 167.26% increase ($1,373,200) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 117th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 134th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0133% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0064% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 112th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 134th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0118% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0052% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 97th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 105th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0157% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0087% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,616,239;
  • Miscellaneous articles of base metal (HS code 83) - a decrease of $53,420.

Russia’s Imports from the Dominican Republic

The major share of Russian imports from the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 57.49% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (41.54% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.11% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (35.74% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.32% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (12.69% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
