Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Tunisia was $134,946,513, down 14.21% ($22,347,237) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $92,401,082, down 22.39% ($26,658,647) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $42,545,431, up 11.28% ($4,311,410) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $49,855,651, a 38.32% decrease ($30,970,057) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Tunisia was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 77th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0949% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0999% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Tunisia was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1038% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1141% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Tunisia was Russia’s 75th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 77th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0800% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0721% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 46.41% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (46.28% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.24% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (21.66% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 16.28% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (9.91% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 13.68% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (17.96% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.11% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (3.99% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,669,324;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $606,692.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $9,289,394;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $7,599,305;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $5,396,996;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $2,921,300;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,286,908;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $1,231,808;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,212,599;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $861,903;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $353,775.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 66.51% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (65.36% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.03% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (12.13% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.62% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (11.77% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.13% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (7.95% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
