Russia’s Trade with Turkey

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Turkey was $5,576,308,395, down 8.47% ($516,068,936) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $4,366,736,017, down 13.14% ($660,737,287) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $1,209,572,378, up 13.59% ($144,668,351) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $3,157,163,639, a 20.33% decrease ($805,405,638) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Turkey was Russia’s 6th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 3.9231% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.8700% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Turkey was Russia’s 4th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 4.9075% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.8164% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Turkey was Russia’s 9th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 12th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 2.2754% of Russia’s total imports (up from 2.0076% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Turkey

The major share of Russian exports to Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 57.72% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (65.54% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 19.87% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (11.76% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.07% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (17.51% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.16% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (3.47% in the 1st quarter of 2019).
