Russia’s Trade with Belarus

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Belarus was $6,099,397,653, down 22.16% ($1,736,878,848) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Belarus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $3,435,249,372, down 27.50% ($1,302,966,097) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Belarus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $2,664,148,281, down 14.01% ($433,912,751) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Belarus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $771,101,091, a 52.99% decrease ($869,053,346) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Belarus was Russia’s 3rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 4th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 4.9992% of Russia’s total trade (up from 4.8950% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Belarus was Russia’s 4th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 4.9132% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.7023% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Belarus was Russia’s 4th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 5.1147% of Russia’s total imports (down from 5.2223% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Belarus

The major share of Russian exports to Belarus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.09% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (43.78% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.09% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (17.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
