Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Ecuador was $371,143,057, down 10.38% ($43,007,608) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $42,490,459, down 42.95% ($31,987,755) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $328,652,598, down 3.24% ($11,019,853) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $286,162,139, a 7.91% increase ($20,967,902) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Ecuador was Russia’s 52nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 54th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3042% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2587% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Ecuador was Russia’s 83rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 79th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0608% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0739% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Ecuador was Russia’s 29th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 32nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.6310% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.5726% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 49.67% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (40.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 23.38% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (3.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 15.98% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (47.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.44% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (4.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.05% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (3.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $136,741.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $28,236,776;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $4,767,195;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $3,674,084;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $851,770;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $828,532;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $769,903;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $638,161;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $544,047;

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.85% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $5,802,423;
  • Preparations of meat, of fish or of crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 16) - an increase of $1,423,009.
