Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $26,849,126, up 28.61% ($5,973,047) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $22,013,701, up 52.63% ($7,591,072) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $4,835,425, down 25.07% ($1,618,025) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $17,178,276, a 115.56% increase ($9,209,097) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Guatemala was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 119th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0220% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0130% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 99th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 109th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0315% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0143% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0093% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0109% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 47.33% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (48.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 46.67% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (40.36% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.75% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (6.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (3.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $3,631,696;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,554,696;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $561,697;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $217,425;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $154,435;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $97,328.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $252,598;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $167,300.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.16% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (98.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.69% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (1.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $1,344,728;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $165,956.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $1,930,896;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $742,797;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $173,995;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $92,423;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $63,365;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - a decrease of $52,533;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $33,077;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - a decrease of $26,690.
