Russia’s Trade with Kuwait

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Kuwait totaled $251,119,579, up 108.93% ($130,925,352) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $250,336,252, up 110.12% ($131,199,195) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $783,327, down 25.90% ($273,843) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $249,552,925, a 111.34% increase ($131,473,038) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Kuwait was Russia’s 67th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 80th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2058% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0751% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Kuwait was Russia’s 49th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 68th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3580% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1182% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Kuwait was Russia’s 126th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 132nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0015% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0018% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Kuwait

The major share of Russian exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 95.61% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (96.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.02% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.05% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.78% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (1.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.12% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (1.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $7,275,419.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $2,906,170.

Russia’s Imports from Kuwait

The major share of Russian imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 91.54% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (0.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.60% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (36.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.86% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (0.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - a decrease of $671,346;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $198,070;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $140,320;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - a decrease of $4,354.
