Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $66,571,196, down 27.48% ($25,219,778) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $64,245,956, down 27.47% ($24,327,840) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $2,325,240, down 27.72% ($891,938) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $61,920,716, a 27.46% decrease ($23,435,902) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Lebanon was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 86th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0546% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0573% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Lebanon was Russia’s 74th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 73rd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0919% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0879% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Lebanon was Russia’s 116th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 118th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0045% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0054% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 45.69% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (53.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 37.74% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (33.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.67% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (5.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.25% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (1.15% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.91% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (3.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,223,679;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $365,544;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $281,672;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $281,414.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $17,932,902;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $13,725,638;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,773,202;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,550,500;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $703,567;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $405,137;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $271,035.
