Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $22,991,694, down 10.41% ($2,672,841) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $811,644, down 89.90% ($7,227,591) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $22,180,050, up 25.84% ($4,554,750) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $21,368,406, a 122.91% increase ($11,782,341) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Macedonia was Russia’s 114th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 112th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0188% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0160% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Macedonia was Russia’s 149th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 124th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0012% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0080% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Macedonia was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 90th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0426% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0297% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 48.87% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (4.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 19.19% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.35% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.32% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (86.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.43% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $19,478;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $8,482;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $4,983;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $3,684.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $6,900,720;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $143,620;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $124,592;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $104,612;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $80,760;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $37,765;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $24,304;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $13,824;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $12,849;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $10,109;

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 53.28% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (65.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 33.81% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (15.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 6.56% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (12.53% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
