Russia’s Trade with Malaysia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Malaysia was $523,805,247, down 19.82% ($129,493,069) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Malaysia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $233,424,289, up 6.20% ($13,617,900) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Malaysia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $290,380,958, down 33.01% ($143,110,969) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Malaysia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $56,956,669, a 73.35% decrease ($156,728,869) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Malaysia was Russia’s 41st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4293% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.4081% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Malaysia was Russia’s 51st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 56th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3339% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2181% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Malaysia was Russia’s 33rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 28th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5575% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7307% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Malaysia

The major share of Russian exports to Malaysia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 84.61% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (82.46% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.19% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (3.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.93% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (6.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.26% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (3.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
