Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Pakistan was $106,963,292, down 17.10% ($22,066,336) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $61,084,769, up 51.07% ($20,651,233) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $45,878,523, down 48.22% ($42,717,569) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a deficit of $48,162,556 in the 2nd quarter of 2019, to a surplus of $15,206,246 in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Pakistan was Russia’s 76th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 77th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0877% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0806% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 44.54% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (59.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 43.72% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (1.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.50% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (16.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.80% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (12.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.15% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (5.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $26,620,665;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $2,465,225;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $974,272;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $600,005.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $329,529;

Russia’s Imports from Pakistan
