Russia’s Trade with Peru

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Peru was $80,440,377, down 42.69% ($59,918,726) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $26,850,835, down 36.64% ($15,524,766) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $53,589,542, down 45.31% ($44,393,960) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $26,738,707, a 51.92% decrease ($28,869,194) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Peru was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 75th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0659% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0877% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Peru was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 87th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0384% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0421% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Peru was Russia’s 70th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1029% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1652% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 75.24% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (54.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.44% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (36.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.81% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (3.78% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.62% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (1.37% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.97% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (1.88% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $519,597;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $230,281;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $190,832;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $124,032.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $12,666,625;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,433,553;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $482,612;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $472,401;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $251,492;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $230,984;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $204,265;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $170,105;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $106,709;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - a decrease of $93,342;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $87,251.

Russia’s Imports from Peru

The major share of Russian imports from Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 93.30% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (53.71% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.23% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (1.49% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.10% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (2.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.06% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (41.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).
