Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Slovenia was $325,419,295, down 10.67% ($38,869,228) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $74,237,433, down 33.94% ($38,148,451) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $251,181,862, down 0.29% ($720,777) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $176,944,429, a 26.83% increase ($37,427,674) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Slovenia was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2667% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2276% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Slovenia was Russia’s 71st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 70th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1062% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1115% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Slovenia was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 41st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4822% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4246% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 77.51% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (90.83% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.07% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (4.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.48% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (0.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.91% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.43% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.32% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,440,351;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,655,475;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,369,799;
  • Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 95) - an increase of $239,455;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $229,524.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $44,535,824;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $744,451;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $520,918;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $399,198;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $304,739;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - a decrease of $284,740.

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 25.92% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (28.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.17% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (5.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.78% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.72% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,699,610;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,390,200;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,033,388.
