Russia’s Trade with Sweden

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Sweden was $709,857,631, down 40.18% ($476,707,590) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Sweden in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $297,291,570, down 50.35% ($301,524,756) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Sweden in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $412,566,061, down 29.81% ($175,182,834) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Sweden went from a surplus of $11,067,431 in the 2nd quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $115,274,491 in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Sweden was Russia’s 31st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5818% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7412% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Sweden was Russia’s 46th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 36th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4252% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.5943% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Sweden was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 22nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.7921% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9907% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Sweden

The major share of Russian exports to Sweden in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 68.21% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (72.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.43% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (18.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.88% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (2.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
