Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan was $164,732,958, down 39.96% ($109,621,851) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $158,832,312, down 40.75% ($109,229,164) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $5,900,646, down 6.24% ($392,687) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $152,931,666, a 41.58% decrease ($108,836,477) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 66th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1350% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1714% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 58th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 52nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2272% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2660% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 109th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0113% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0106% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 34.98% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (15.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.28% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (29.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.88% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (4.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.19% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (19.64% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.63% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (5.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $32,169,673;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $4,387,197;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $2,161,239;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,710,435;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $1,540,134;
