Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Uruguay was $41,629,824, down 9.52% ($4,381,215) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2020 totaled $18,582,661, up 85.83% ($8,582,717) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $23,047,163, down 36.00% ($12,963,932) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $4,464,502, a 82.84% decrease ($21,546,649) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Uruguay was Russia’s 100th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 97th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0341% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0287% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Uruguay was Russia’s 102nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 120th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0266% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0099% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Uruguay was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 80th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0442% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0607% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 89.07% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (89.85% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.12% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (2.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $426,028;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $77,263;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $72,030.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $224,649;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - a decrease of $78,888;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $66,383;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $58,712.
