Russia’s Trade with Canada

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Canada was $303,424,118, down 44.11% ($239,492,884) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $77,247,645, down 67.55% ($160,780,632) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $226,176,473, down 25.82% ($78,712,252) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $148,928,828, a 122.75% increase ($82,068,380) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Canada was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 50th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2222% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3273% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Canada was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 57th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0982% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2304% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Canada was Russia’s 40th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 35th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3905% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4874% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Canada

The major share of Russian exports to Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 46.78% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (18.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.15% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (4.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.22% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (66.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.17% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (2.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.73% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (2.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
