Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Cyprus was $35,430,456, down 82.87% ($171,411,461) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $34,349,206, down 83.26% ($170,833,393) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $1,081,250, down 34.84% ($578,068) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $33,267,956, a 83.65% decrease ($170,255,325) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Cyprus was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 70th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0259% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1247% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Cyprus was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 60th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0437% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1986% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Cyprus was Russia’s 126th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 127th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0019% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0027% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 62.81% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (85.86% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.23% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.97% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (0.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.68% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.40% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (0.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,275,702;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $850,334;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $248,308;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $189,799;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $112,140.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $154,620,031;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $10,593,280;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,040,629;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,042,125;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $1,166,320;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $178,403;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $170,819;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - a decrease of $119,001.
