Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Greece was $559,168,951, down 55.43% ($695,503,703) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $503,526,426, down 57.61% ($684,260,066) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $55,642,525, down 16.81% ($11,243,637) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $447,883,901, a 60.04% decrease ($673,016,429) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Greece was Russia’s 41st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 27th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4094% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7564% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Greece was Russia’s 31st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 19th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.6402% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1496% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Greece was Russia’s 69th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 67th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0961% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1069% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.90% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (92.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.71% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (4.02% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.44% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.29% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (0.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (0.59% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $7,913,759;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $3,041,543;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,805,937.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $681,869,052;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $4,464,646;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $2,740,334;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,713,399;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $2,310,060.

Russia’s Imports from Greece

The major share of Russian imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.10% of Russia’s total imports from Greece (16.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.50% of Russia’s total imports from Greece (12.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $714,417;
