Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Hungary was $1,138,999,497, down 29.11% ($467,702,592) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $657,555,622, down 37.07% ($387,411,040) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $481,443,875, down 14.29% ($80,291,552) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $176,111,747, a 63.56% decrease ($307,119,488) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Hungary was Russia’s 24th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 20th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8340% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9686% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Hungary was Russia’s 24th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8360% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0114% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Hungary was Russia’s 25th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8312% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.8981% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 88.76% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (92.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.08% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (6.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.17% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (0.56% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $13,163,992;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $12,277,116;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $3,714,258;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $2,226,937.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $390,655,311;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $19,720,508;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $4,531,012;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $3,434,257.

Russia’s Imports from Hungary

The major share of Russian imports from Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 54.90% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (50.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.51% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (26.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.45% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (7.72% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.88% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (3.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
