Russia’s Trade with India

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with India was $2,367,122,505, down 6.59% ($167,072,822) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $1,586,454,678, up 3.50% ($53,693,577) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from India in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $780,667,827, down 22.05% ($220,766,399) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $805,786,851, a 51.66% increase ($274,459,976) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

India was Russia’s 15th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.7332% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.5278% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

India was Russia’s 13th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 14th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 2.0170% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.4835% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

India was Russia’s 17th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 16th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.3479% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.6011% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 19.50% of Russia’s total exports to India (13.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 19.09% of Russia’s total exports to India (9.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.46% of Russia’s total exports to India (17.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 15.24% of Russia’s total exports to India (34.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.10% of Russia’s total exports to India (4.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
