Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $544,391,272, down 16.08% ($104,313,432) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $105,725,268, down 56.24% ($135,870,265) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $438,666,004, up 7.75% ($31,556,833) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $332,940,736, a 101.16% increase ($167,427,098) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Indonesia was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 42nd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3986% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3911% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Indonesia was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 55th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1344% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2338% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Indonesia was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 31st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.7574% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.6509% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 39.83% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (42.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.98% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (18.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.38% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (20.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.30% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (3.28% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.94% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.02% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (13.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,921,191;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $866,644;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $411,875.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $60,003,059;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $30,875,068;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $23,502,488;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $20,203,401;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $2,277,711;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,543,099;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $806,913;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $627,452;

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 13.36% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (16.28% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.58% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (15.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
