Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $88,256,278, down 41.59% ($62,851,664) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $84,405,528, down 41.54% ($59,986,543) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $3,850,750, down 42.66% ($2,865,121) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $80,554,778, a 41.49% decrease ($57,121,422) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Lebanon was Russia’s 83rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 76th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0646% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0911% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Lebanon was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 65th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1073% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1397% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Lebanon was Russia’s 113th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 102nd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0066% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0107% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 70.18% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (68.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.62% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (23.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.90% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (4.64% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.61% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (0.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.77% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (1.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $447,766;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $363,512.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $39,520,603;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $16,902,994;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,698,706;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,515,247;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $1,250,762;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $951,004;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $760,854;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $583,131;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $435,178;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $405,853;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $296,367.

Russia’s Imports from Lebanon

The major share of Russian imports from Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 72.42% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (77.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.05% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (9.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.11% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (5.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $60,269;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $52,422;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $49,792.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
