Russia’s trade surplus with Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $26,272,425, a 47.57% decrease ($23,835,304) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Libya was Russia’s 115th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 103rd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0192% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0302% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Libya was Russia’s 100th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 89th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0334% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0485% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

There were no Russia’s imports from Libya both in the 3rd quarter of 2020 and in the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s Exports to Libya

The major share of Russian exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 73.11% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (68.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.77% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (5.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.21% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (8.21% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.26% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (16.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,726,579;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $1,271,157.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $16,109,317;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $8,187,813;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $3,923,819;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $440,056;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $250,000;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $165,787.
