Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Macedonia totaled $30,308,746, up 39.00% ($8,504,637) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $8,018,771, up 525.40% ($6,736,589) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $22,289,975, up 8.62% ($1,768,048) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $14,271,204, a 25.82% decrease ($4,968,541) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Macedonia was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 125th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0222% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0131% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Macedonia was Russia’s 127th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 158th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0102% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0012% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Macedonia was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0385% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0328% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 87.69% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (0.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.92% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (70.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.33% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (12.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.77% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (13.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $39,065;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $38,863;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $36,748;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $29,571.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $560,287;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $64,668;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $26,208;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $25,735.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 56.90% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (63.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 15.54% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (6.87% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.02% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (13.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
