Russia’s Trade with Morocco

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Morocco was $265,932,051, down 8.17% ($23,675,248) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $213,939,073, down 4.04% ($8,997,504) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $51,992,978, down 22.02% ($14,677,744) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $161,946,095, a 3.63% increase ($5,680,240) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Morocco was Russia’s 63rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 64th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1947% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1746% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Morocco was Russia’s 50th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 59th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2720% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2158% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Morocco was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0898% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1066% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 73.28% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (74.47% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.06% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (17.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.81% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (4.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.67% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (3.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $4,835,735;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $3,308,292;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $847,335;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $809,047.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $10,488,223;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $8,423,806;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $4,306,831;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $3,790,500;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,009,314;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $813,103;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $726,833;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $707,653.

Russia’s Imports from Morocco

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.96% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (11.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.75% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (10.89% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
