Russia’s Trade with Nicaragua

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Nicaragua was $7,841,425, down 59.86% ($11,694,580) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $5,706,919, down 62.16% ($9,375,237) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $2,134,506, down 52.08% ($2,319,343) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $3,572,413, a 66.39% decrease ($7,055,894) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Nicaragua was Russia’s 143rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 130th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0057% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0118% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 136th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 118th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0073% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0146% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 119th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 112th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0037% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0071% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Nicaragua

The major share of Russian exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 87.62% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (52.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.85% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (0.13% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 5.49% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (1.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $861,267;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $855,917;
