Russia’s Trade with Paraguay

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Paraguay was $159,492,284, down 8.24% ($14,323,646) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $8,477,805, up 201.65% ($5,667,332) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $151,014,479, down 11.69% ($19,990,978) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $142,536,674, a 15.26% decrease ($25,658,310) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Paraguay was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1168% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1048% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Paraguay was Russia’s 125th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 150th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0108% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0027% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Paraguay was Russia’s 49th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 45th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2607% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2734% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Paraguay

The major share of Russian exports to Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.07% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (63.13% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.18% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (17.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.39% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (17.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $5,522,451;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $65,556;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $62,983;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $44,644;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $37,934.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $36,800;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - a decrease of $27,836.

Russia’s Imports from Paraguay

The major share of Russian imports from Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 97.98% of Russia’s total imports from Paraguay (100.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.01% of Russia’s total imports from Paraguay (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Paraguay in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $10,047,367;

  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - a decrease of $522,498.
