Russia’s Trade with Sri Lanka

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Sri Lanka totaled $117,183,125, up 32.35% ($28,644,825) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $45,030,754, up 151.25% ($27,107,745) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $72,152,371, up 2.18% ($1,537,080) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $27,121,617, a 48.53% decrease ($25,570,665) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 78th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0858% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0534% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 80th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 115th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0573% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0173% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 62nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 64th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1246% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1129% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,770,208;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $921,427;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $651,467;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $231,556;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $188,655;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $174,882.
